Systems
Residential HVAC and mechanical systems, planned around the home.
In houses, townhouses, condos and co-ops, we plan and install heating, cooling, boiler, hot-water, ventilation and water-quality systems, along with the related mechanical work.
Jump to a system
01
Heating and cooling
Air-source heat pumps, ductless mini-split and central air-conditioning systems for individual rooms, multiple zones and whole-home projects.
Typical systems
Wall-mounted ductless mini-splits · Ceiling cassettes · Concealed ducted equipment · Central air handlers · Outdoor heat-pump and condensing equipment · Gas heating · Garage heaters · Zoning and controls
What we review
Capacity, equipment location, airflow, line and duct routes, condensate drainage, electrical requirements, noise and future access.
02
Boilers, radiant heat and hot water
Gas-fired heating and domestic-hot-water systems for replacements, upgrades and renovation work.
Typical systems
Gas boilers · Combi boilers · Tankless water heaters · Hydronic radiant-floor heating · Circulators · Manifolds · Zone controls · Hydronic and domestic expansion tanks
What we review
Existing piping, heat distribution, gas service, venting, condensate, hot-water demand, equipment space and controls.
03
Ventilation, exhaust and radon
Orange Mechanical installs bathroom exhaust, attic ventilation and radon mitigation systems in Staten Island, Brooklyn and Manhattan homes.
Typical systems
Panasonic bathroom exhaust · Ceiling-mounted ventilation · Inline and remote fans · Attic ventilation · Fantech radon mitigation systems · Duct corrections · Air filtration
What we review
Required airflow, fan location, noise, duct route, exterior discharge, access and the finished surface around the work.
04
Water quality and pressure
Whole-home filtration and pressure-boosting systems.
Typical systems
3M Aqua-Pure whole-home filtration · Point-of-use filtration · Whole-home pressure boosters · Domestic expansion tanks · Related valves, piping and supports
What we review
Existing pressure, required flow, filter or equipment location, bypass and isolation, drainage where applicable, and future cartridge or equipment access.
05
Ductwork, controls and insulation
The supporting work that allows the primary system to perform properly.
Typical systems
New and revised ductwork · Supply and return distribution · Dampers and zoning · Thermostats and controls · Air filtration · Condensate management · ROCKWOOL stone-wool insulation · Thermal and sound-control work related to the mechanical project
What we review
Airflow, space, noise, access, serviceability and coordination with the surrounding construction.
Common questions
Do I need to choose the equipment first?
No. Equipment is selected to suit the project, not from a fixed lineup. Describe the property, the current system and what you want to improve. Model numbers are useful when available. If photographs would help, you can share them after we reply.
Can one proposal include several systems and trades?
Yes. When several systems or trades belong to the same project, Orange Mechanical can define them together in one proposal.
Can existing piping, ducts, wiring or drains be reused?
Sometimes. Reuse depends on condition, capacity, compatibility, access and the requirements of the new system.
Can the work be completed in a finished or occupied home?
Yes. Access, protection, equipment placement, routes and affected finishes are considered before the project begins.
